Heavy rains that started lashing Pakistan's port city of Karachi Tuesday have claimed seven lives because of electrocution, officials said. Educational institutions were closed because of standing water and traffic bedlam in most parts of the city. Life was paralyzed in Karachi. Pakistan Meteorological Department recorded maximum 80 millimeter, 60.5 millimeter, 75 millimeter and 74 millimeter rain in different areas of Karachi. A father and son were electrocuted in Moachh Goth, an elderly man in Azizabad, a passerby at Tower and a security guard in Muhabbat Ali in Boat Basin area of Clifton, officials said. More rain is expected in the next 24 hours on the coastline of Sindh and Balochistan.
