Pakistan will take all possible follow up steps to implement the decisions taken at the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Peace Jirga held in Kabul recently, President Pervez Musharraf says. Chairing a high level meeting, Musharraf expressed his satisfaction on the holding of the Peace Jirga and hoped that involvement of tribal and religious leaders from both sides of the Pak-Afghan border would help promote peace and security and check illegal border crossings, according to an official statement. He said Pakistan firmly believes in a strong, stable and prosperous Afghanistan, which is not only in the interest of Afghan people but also Pakistan and the entire region. Musharraf said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz co-inaugurated the Jirga session with President Hamid Karzai and he himself visited Kabul despite heavy engagements at home to address the concluding session. He praised the Interior and other Ministers of Pakistan for their positive contribution in making the Jirga a success.
