Twelve Iranians kidnapped in the country's lawless southeast were freed by Pakistani police on Monday, a day after being abducted by bandits, Iranian state television reported. The TV said that Pakistani security forces clashed with gunmen and succeeded in setting the Iranian hostages free early Monday. The report did not provide details or identities of the gunmen. The 12 Iranians were snatched on the road between Chabahar port and Iranshahr town, some 1,700 kilometers (1,056 miles) southeast of capital Tehran in Sistan-Baluchistan province, bordering Pakistan.
