A 31-year-old man died after crossing the finishing line in a long distance mountain bike competition in southern Switzerland, Saturday, according to DPA. The man suffered heart failure after completing the 68 kilometre course from Heremence to Grimentz in his home canton of Valais, according to a doctor at the scene. He died despite efforts to save him. It was the 18th year the Grand Raid race had taken place. The longest course is 121 kilometres and goes from Verbier to Grimentz. Competitors tackle some of the toughest mountain terrain including climbing 2,787 metres through the Lona Pass in the final stages.
