One US soldier was killed and two others wounded on Friday when a roadside bomb struck their patrol in east Baghdad, the US military in Iraq reported according to dpa. Meanwhile, at least 25 Iraqis were wounded, some seriously, and several stores were damaged when an explosive charge went off on Friday evening in the crowded al-Fawriya public marketplace in central Kirkuk, the independent Voices of Iraq news agency reported citing a police source. Separately, a bomb was detonated in al-Jumhouriya commercial street also in central Kirkuk, wounding seven people, the source added. Kirkuk is located 250 kilometres north-east of Baghdad.
