Bangladesh's Minister for Food and Disaster Management Tappan Chowdhury underscored the firmness and depth of the fraternal ties binding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh in all fields. In a press conference held here today, Chowdhury described the Saudi relief assistance sent to the needy in his country as a humanitarian gesture from a generous country and not a strange manner by the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who were always the first to come to aid disaster-hit people all over the world. He explained the process of receiving and distributing the Saudi relief items, noting that there is complete coordination between international humanitarian organizations and local authorities in Bangladesh in this regard. The Bangladeshi official estimates that nearly ten million people have been inflicted by the disaster hitting his country. Sami Al-Hindi, First Secretary at the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka and a delegation of the Saudi Ministry of Finance attended the press conference.
