Australian ambassador to the Kingdom Ian Biggs called for increase in number of Saudi students to be sent on scholarships to Australia. This came during a meeting for the ambassador with Abdul-Ghani Mahmoud Sabbagh, Member of the Board of Directors of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the headquarters of the chamber in Jeddah today. During discussions covering a number of economic issues between the two countries, the ambassador said that Australia welcomes more Saudi students seeking study in technical, technological and medical fields. The ambassador also called on Saudi businessmen to invest in his country, noting the firmness of the Australian economy and the steady increase of commercial exchanges between his country and the Arab world over the last few years. The trade exchange size between Australia and Saudi Arabia in particular increased to $2 billion with 21 joint ventures operating in the fields of industries and services, he said.
