Two landslides struck a village in western Kenya on Saturday, killing at least 13 people as streams of mud buried homes and rescuers who had rushed to the scene, authorities said, according to AP. The first landslide happened before dawn and killed three members of a family as they slept, said Peter Kavila, Western Provincial Police Officer. The next one came hours later and buried more homes and rescuers. «Thirteen people are confirmed dead. Many others are missing,» he said, although he could not give a figure. The rescue was being hampered by rain. Further details were not immediately available. Malava is about 600 kilometers (375 miles) from the capital, Nairobi.
