Donald Tusk, leader of Poland liberal Civic Platform (PO) opposition said Thursday Poles would face an early general election this fall following talks with President Lech Kaczynski, according to dpa. Tusk said the decision to hold an early ballot in October had "de facto already been made." The comment comes amid an escalation of political chaos in the coalition government of Law and Justice (PiS) Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski following the sacking of Andrzej Lepper, the leader of a junior coalition partner on as yet unproven allegations of corruption. The political chaos inside the rocky coalition has been compounded by a series of high-profile sackings in key state institutions including the interior ministry, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBS) and the national police.
