Minister of Finance Ibrahim Bin Abdulaziz Al Assaf met here yesterday with visiting European Union's candidate for the post of Director-General of the International Monetary Fund Dominique Strauss-Khan. During the meeting, they discussed challenges facing the International Monetary Fund including the Fund's role in achieving stability in the global economy, the ongoing efforts to improve the structure and management of the Fund and the search for stable sources to finance the Fund's activities. The Minister of Finance called for the fund's analysis and recommendations to be comprehensive and accurate and its consultations with the Member States balanced, open and independent from any external influences.
