The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz chaired this Monday afternoon the cabinet's weekly session held at Alsalam Palace in Jeddah. At the outset of the meeting, the King briefed the council of ministers on the contacts, meetings and consultations he made during the last week with a number of heads of states and state representatives and envoys. The talks dealt with bilateral relations and issues of the region and the world. The King welcomed the visit of Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf which highlights the bonds of religion, friendship and cooperation linking the two countries, their joint understanding of political movement in the Islamic countries, the need to distinguish between extremist movements which raise the slogan of Islam to hide their deviant understanding of Islam and the forces that follow the road of legality and people's acceptance in their country within the framework of the values, ideals, tolerance and goals of Islam. The King also highlighted his meeting with the Emir of Kuwait and the two countries' constant efforts to boost joint Arab and GCC work and strategically deal with developments of the events in the region. Minister of Culture and Information Iyad Madani told Saudi Press Agency following the session that the cabinet stressed in this regard that the kingdom always seeks to unify Arabs, boost joint Islamic work institutions and confront attempts to impose intellectual, political, economic or military hegemony in the region or change its stable societal structure which is agreed upon and indigenous to it. --More
