Prince Saud Alfaisal, the Foreign Minister, and his Egyptian counterpart Ahmad Aboul Gheit signed here today an agreement to form a committee for political consultation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt at the level of the foreign ministers of the two countries to consult and exchange views on various bilateral, regional and international issues. The agreement calls for holding an annual meeting between the two sides and meetings when necessary. The meetings shall be held in the capitals of the two countries alternately. In remarks following the signing, Prince Saud Alfaisal answered a question on the peace conference called for by United States president George Bush on the Palestinian question saying the conference needs to deal with main issues such as the borders, the return of the Palestinians and Alquds, and not just a conference for formalities and photo sessions for useless meetings. He added that if the conference meets this view, effective participation in it will take place.
