Extreme weather conditions have claimed the lives of at least 17 people in South Africa over the weekend, reports said Monday. While several areas in the Cape Town region were still under water after a series of storm systems moved over the area, bush fires were raging in Mpumalanga province around the Kruger National Park. Especially hard hit was the village of Paulpietersburg where four people died in the flames, DPA quoted radio reports as saying.
