German police said Friday they had shut down a laboratory producing illegal drugs linked to domestic and international bodybuilders, according to dpa. A special team of the Berlin police detained a 41-year-old man with a previous criminal record in the town of Buesum on the North Sea coast. He is alleged to have converted a garage in the scenic holiday resort into a laboratory. Police found hundreds of kilos of chemicals used in the manufacture of drugs, much of them originating in China. They said the team had been tracking the man and 77 other members of a gang since November 2005.
