Australian authorities on Friday dropped charges against an Indian-born doctor accused of providing material support to the suspects in the bomb plots foiled in Britain in June. Dr. Mohammed Haneef, 27, was facing charges for providing "reckless support" to a terrorist organization. Commonwealth prosecutors withdrew that charge in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday, following a review of the case by Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions Damian Bugg. On Friday Bugg said during his review he found no reasonable chance of convicting Haneef, who was jailed July 2 by police as he was trying to leave Australia for India. The review was prompted after inconsistencies in the case involving main pieces of evidence against Haneef emerged.
