Dow Chemical Company broke a revenue record in the second quarter, reaching 13.3 billion dollars, up 6 per cent from the year-earlier period, the largest US chemical firm said Thursday, according to dpa. The increased revenues come in spite of starkly rising costs for raw materials and energy and a weakening of its US market in the construction and automobile industries. Sales in Europe, Asia and Latin America recorded increases. Quarterly profits rose by 2 per cent to 1 billion dollars, or 1.07 dollars per share, up from 1.05 dollars per share, in the same quarter of 2006, the Midland, Michigan-based company said. In the first half of the year, Dow Chemical profits fell to 2 billion dollars, or 2.07 dollars per share, down from 2.2 billion dollars, or 2.29 dollars per share, a year earlier. Revenues for the year rose to 25.7 billion dollars from 24.5 billion dollars.
