Indian information technology major Infosys announced Wednesday that it had signed a multi-million dollar outsourcing contract with Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands, according to dpa. The Bangalore-based company also said it would acquire three shared service centres located in India, Poland and Thailand from Philips. "The contract is amongst the largest financing and accounting BPO (business process outsourcing) engagements from India and will expand Infosys' global network, particularly strengthening its European operations," Infosys said in a statment. "The seven-year contract will generate about 250 millions dollars revenue for our BPO subsidiary," Infosys CEO S Gopalkrishnan was quoted as saying by IANS news agency. Infosys will gain approximately 1,400 Philips professionals - based in Warsaw, Bangkok and Chennai in southern India with a wide range of skills, including diverse language capabilities, technical expertise and domain knowledge, Gerard Ruizendaal, group controller for Royal Philips Electronics was quoted as saying in the Infosys statement "We are excited to partner with Philips to take their F&A and procurement functions to the next level of transformation," Gopalakrishnan said.
