KING ABDULLAH II OF JORDAN HAS REITERATED THE IMPORTANCE OF ATTAINING GENUINE PROGRESS IN THE MARCH OF THE PEACE PROCESS IN THE MIDDLE EAST IN A MANNER THAT LEADS TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INDEPENDENT PALESTINIAN STATE WHICH COEXISTS WITH ISRAEL. AT HIS MEETING WITH US PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH YESTERDAY, KING ABDULLAH II CALLED FOR INTENSIFICATION OF EFFORTS FOR REACHING A JUST, COMPREHENSIVE AND DURABLE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THE JORDANIAN MONARCH POINTED OUT THAT THE ARAB PEACE INITIATIVE HAS PROVIDED A CLEAR EVIDENCE FOR THE KEENNESS OF THE ARABS IN PEACE AND COEXISTENCE WITH ISRAEL. MEANWHILE, KING ABDULLAH II REITERATED THE SUPPORT OF JORDAN TO THE SECURITY AND UNITY OF IRAQ, AS WELL AS THE IMPORTANCE OF NATIONAL RECONCILIATION IN THE COUNTRY. THE JORDANIAN MONARCH MET IN WASHINGTON YESTERDAY US DEFENSE SECRETARY ROBERT GATES AND STATE SECRETARY CONDOLEEZZA RICE.
