IRANIAN PRESIDENT MAHMOUD AHMADINEJAD LEFT HERE TODAY FOR DAMASCUS ON A ON-E-DAY VISIT TO SYRIA. PRIOR TO DEPARTURE FROM TEHRAN, THE IRANIAN PRESIDENT HIGHLIGHTED THE FOSTERING SYRIAN-IRANIAN RELATIONS, AND SAID THE TWO COUNTRIES HAVE COMMON VIEWS ON THE REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ISSUES. HE SAID HE IS VISITING SYRIA IN RESPONSE TO AN OFFICIAL INVITATION FROM SYRIAN PRESIDENT BASHAR AL-ASSAD. 'IN DAMASCUS WE WILL DISCUSS A NUMBER OF REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL TOPICS', HE SAID.
