Hong Kong, already one of the world's most densely populated cities, is to become even more crowded as its population grows by nearly 2 million in the next 30 years, officials said Monday, according to dpa. A report by the territory's census and statistics department released Monday predicted that the city's population would expand from the current 6.9 million to 8.6 million in 2036. However, the majority of the population rise will be in migrants from mainland China who will increase the numbers by 1.2 million. Less than 500,000 of the increase will come from Hong Kong born babies.
