Lebanese infantry fought Islamic militants at close range Sunday, inching their way into a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon and hoisting Lebanon's red and white flag on the collapsed rooftops of newly seized buildings, security officials and witnesses said, according to AP. Soldiers have been bombing their way inside the camp for days, and Sunday marked their deepest foray yet. By mid-afternoon, witnesses reported hearing less tank fire and more machineguns, suggesting the army was engaging the al-Qaida inspired Fatah Islam militants in close combat in some areas of the camp.
