A powerful typhoon made landfall in the southern region of Japan Saturday afternoon, injuring at least 44, sending thousands to evacuate their homes, forcing flight cancellations and causing blackouts, according to dpa. The Japan Meteorological Agency warned residents of landslides and floods caused by heavy rainfall and strong winds as this season's fourth typhoon, Man-yi, moved north-east at 35 kilometres per hour through the Japanese archipelago. At least 44 people have been injured, including two in critical condition, in the strong winds in the southern region of Kyushu and the southernmost island of Okinawa.
