Eight Saudi females from Al-Fikr Schools won the painting contests organized by the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The contest was participated by 140 competitors from 9 Saudi schools. Speaking on the occasion, Shadiah Ameen, The headmistress of Al-Fikr School said the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) - Saudi Arabia, approved 8 drawings signed by the Saudi female students as the drawings project eight development goals of MDGs. The UNDP-Saudi Arabia, considered the 8 winning paintings which displayed the various students' signatures as the official MDGs posters in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This was one of many activities that took place during the UN week in 2006 which aimed at highlighting the role of youth in the attainment of sustainable human development in Saudi Arabia. The goal was to raise the youth's awareness and sense of responsibility towards a better life, a further progress, and a thorough development.
