A shark nipped a teenage surfer and slightly injured him before letting go, The Associated Press quoted authorities as saying. Chaz Cecil, 18, was bit on his right foot Thursday afternoon, according to the beach patrol. Capt. Scott Petersohn called it a «pretty typical» bite, «A couple of small lacerations to the top of the foot.» Petersohn said the shark likely did not know what he was grabbing and when it realized, it let go. «This was a case of mistaken identity,» he said. New Smyrna Beach is 14 miles (22 1/2 kilometers) south of Daytona Beach.
