Gen Waheed Arshad said about 100 to 300 militants are still present inside the Jamia Hafsa. There is no confirmed figure of the inmates, he added. Fresh contingents of security forces have arrived near Lal Masjid and took their positions. The nightlong gunfire came to a standstill after the morning light appeared but resumed again after brief silence. A large number of ambulances are standing near the Lal Masjid. Thousands of policemen, paramilitary Rangers and Pakistan Army personnel are surrounding the Lal Masjid-Jamia Hafsa for the last three days. Information Minister Mohammed Ali Durrani said the Lal Masjid militants used rocket launcher towards the security personnel. But Ghazi denied this. Armoured Personnel Carriers or APCs have been moved towards Lal Masjid. Some inmates who came out from the complex and were arrested by security forces said that mines have been laid inside Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa to resist any commando action.
