Six NATO-led peacekeeping soldiers and an Afghan employee were killed when their vehicle was blown up by a roadside bomb explosion in southern Afghanistan, while over 20 suspected Taliban fighters were killed in separate clashes in the same region, officials said on Wednesday, according to dpa. Officials from the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) who confirmed the attack did not identify the naitionalities of the deceased soldiers, nor say where exactly in the south the incident took place. Troops mainly from Britain, Canada, the United States and the Netherlands are stationed in the volatile south of Afghanistan. Wednesday's attack was the deadliest targeting ISAF troops in more than a month. "The ISAF community mourns the loss of these brave soldiers," ISAF spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Maria Carl said in the statement. "They gave their lives to improve the lives of the Afghan people," she added.
