IN THIS REGARD, THE CABINET URGED THE MINISTRY OF MUNICIPAL AND RURAL AFFAIRS, MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE, MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, MINISTRY OF HEALTH , SAUDI ARABIAN STANDARDS ORGANIZATION, GENERAL COMMISSION FOR FOOD AND DRUGS, AND DEPARTMENT OF CUSTOMS TO EACH ENHANCE ITS ROLE IN THE FIELD OF PROTECTING THE CONSUMER AND ACTIVATE THIS ROLE THROUGH ENACTING RELEVANT STANDARDS FOR GOODS AND PRODUCTS WHICH ARE USED BY THE PUBLIC. THE CABINET ALSO URGED THOSE AUTHORITIES TO TIGHTEN CONTROL ON AND FOLLOW-UP OF ENFORCING THOSE STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS. THE CABINET ALSO ORDERED THE SET UP OF A NATIONAL SOCIETY TO BE CALLED CONSUMER PROTECTION ASSOCIATION WHICH WILL TAKE CARE OF THE INTERESTS OF CONSUMERS, PROTECT THEIR RIGHTS AND ADVOCATE THEIR CAUSE BEFORE THE CONCERNED AUTHORITIES ON THE ONE HAND, AND PROVIDE SUPPORT TO GOVERNMENTAL EFFORTS AND TO SPREAD CONSUMER AWARENESS CULTURE, ON THE OTHER. --MORE
