A German tourist died Thursday while hiking on the Svolvaergeita Peak in the Lofoten Islands off north-western Norway, Norwegian broadcaster NRK reported, according to dpa. A search operation was launched after the man in his early 40s failed to meet up with his girlfriend in the afternoon, and his body was found Thursday evening, police said. The peak attracts thousands of tourists a year, but some of the terrain is very rough.
