Some 52 passengers and two guides were evacuated Wednesday from a small cruise ship that ran aground off the western coast of Greenland, news reports said. The decision to evacuate the cruise ship was a precautionary measure since the M/S Quest was listing, police in Nuuk, capital of self-ruling Greenland told Danish news agency Ritzau, according to dpa. There were no reports of injuries and weather conditions were calm, police said, adding that the vessel could possibly leave the sandbank it was on at next high tide Thursday. The passengers were reported to be Danish nationals and were transferred to a nearby sports arena, police spokesman Bjorn Bay said. Tour operator Albatros Travel said it planned to commission another vessel for the passengers who were on a whale safari. The crew remained onboard the double-hulled vessel.
