A consortium that includes Saudi Aramco has received a prestigious Japanese award for its groundbreaking development of the high-severity fluid catalytic cracking (HS-FCC) technology. The Japanese Petroleum Institute recently presented its Noguchi Memorial Award to a research consortium of Saudi Aramco, the Japanese Cooperation Center Petroleum (JCCP), Nippon Oil Co. of Japan and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). It was the first time the award had gone to organizations outside Japan, according to a report carried by Saudi Aramco web-site. The award is for “fundamental or applied research in the area of petroleum alternatives, residual oil upgrading technology in petroleum refining and developments in utilization of light oil, thereby rendering outstanding service in promoting technological progress in the petroleum industry.” --MORE
