A US soldier was killed Monday when his patrol was attacked with small arms fire during combat operations in eastern Baghdad, the US military announced Tuesday, according to dpa. Four more US soldiers died from wounds sustained last week while operating in Kirkuk and Diyala provinces, according to a US military statement. One soldier died from wounds from small arms fire Diyala province, and three died from injuries sustained when a roadside bomb went off near their vehicle in Kirkuk province.
