THE SUB-COMMITTEE FOR CONSULAR AFFAIRS, AN AFFILIATE OF THE SAUDI-EGYPTIAN JOINT COMMISSION, HELD HERE TODAY A MEETING UNDER CO-CHAIRMANSHIP OF UNDERSECRETARY OF THE SAUDI FOREIGN MINISTRY FOR CONSULAR AFFAIRS IBRAHIM AL-KHURASHI AND EGYPTIAN ASSISTANT FOREIGN MINISTER FOR CONSULAR AFFAIRS AHMAD AL-QUEISNI. SPEAKING ON THE OCCASION, AL-KHURASHI UNDERLINED THE IMPORTANCE OF THE CONSULAR COMMITTEE, AND NOTED THAT THE NUMBER OF SAUDIS WHO VISIT EGYPT ANNUALLY JUMPED FROM 267,000 TO 500,000 LAST YEAR. AL-KHURASHI SAID THE TOPICS ON THE AGENDA OF THE MEETING INCLUDE UMRAH (THE MINOR PILGRIMAGE) PERFORMERS WHO STAY BACK ILLEGALLY. ON HIS PART, AL-QUEISINI HIGHLIGHTED THE EXISTING FRATERNAL RELATIONS BETWEEN THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA AND EGYPT. HE ASKED THE SAUDI SIDE TO BRIEF THE EGYPTIAN SIDE ON THE PROBLEMS PERTAINING TO THE EGYPTIANS RESIDING IN SAUDI ARABIA.
