Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez made a surprise visit to Havana on Tuesday at the invitation of recovering Cuban leader Fidel Castro, Cuban television reported. Left-wing populist Chavez was expected to meet with Fidel Castro and his younger brother Raul Castro, who took over as leader of the communist island in July 2006 to allow Fidel Castro to recover from surgery. Chavez was also met by Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage and Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque, among others.
