Police thwarted an attempt by Greenpeace activists to fly a hot air balloon over the Group of Eight summit in Heiligendamm, Germany, Friday, REPORTED UPI. Three police helicopters forced the white, hot air balloon, which was emblazoned with the message "G8 -- Act Now" with the word "Failed" superimposed over it, to land, Deutsche Welle reported. The air space around the Baltic Sea summit meeting spot is closed to all traffic. The environmental group's balloon, which had two occupants, had taken off from Rostock, about 15 miles away. On Thursday, Greenpeace broke into a closed sea zone at the summit site with inflatable boats.
