A hostage drama at a Deutsche Bank branch in the northern Spanish city of Leon ended without bloodshed after a six-hour standoff Thursday evening, police said, according to dpa. A special police commando unit stormed the bank building in the city centre only to discover that two armed men who had been holding the hostages had already fled, police said. Four bank employees who had been held hostage were unharmed. They had been locked up inside a room. It was not immediately known how the two armed men had fled. They had entered the bank shortly before closing time with the apparent aim of robbing it. But police were alerted to the situation by a money transport firm and surrounded the building, starting the hostage drama.
