Following a month-long corruption scandal, Bulgarian Prime Minster Sergey Stanishev on Saturday said that he has accepted the resignation of Economy Minister Rumen Ovcharov. Ovcharov, who is also Stanishev's deputy in the ruling Socialist Party, tended his resignation amid allegations of corruption and following an investigation into murky deals. The probe has found no evidence against him, but public pressure forced the resignation. Ovcharov may also be investigated over an alleged attempt to stop the earlier probe.
