The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Ms Shamshad Akhtar says Pakistan's real GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in the fiscal year 2006-7 remained at 7 percent and growth is broad based for the year. While briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Revenues, Economic Affairs and Statistics, she said that agriculture growth remains at 5 percent, which is well above set target of 4.3 percent, despite declines in harvest of rice and maize, adding growth in Agriculture sector is likely to surpass the set target. Ms Akhtar said that agriculture credit disbursement grew by 22.55 percent, which is a positive sign. --MORE
