Five inventors from Saudi Arabia competed at the 35th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva in April, winning seven medals and prizes for their inventions. Dr. Rashid Al-Othman was one of the prize winners in the International Exhibition of Inventions. He was one of five inventors from Saudi Arabia at the prestigious exhibition. Dr.Al-Othman, a senior lab scientist at Saudi Aramco's Research and Development Center, was awarded a bronze medal for his invention, “Accelerated Degradation Evaluation Method and Apparatus,” entered under the classification “Commercial and Industrial Equipment.” His competitors came from France, Great Britain, Germany, Hong Kong, Romania and Croatia. Al-Othman and a group of Saudi Aramco colleagues, Timothy Ely, Douglas Mitchell and Abdul Rahman, created the invention in the late 1990s, and it was patented in 2004.
