Tubayyeb said, Saudi Aramco is increasing its upstream and downstream capacities. "Upstream, Saudi Aramco will have a maximum sustainable crude oil production capacity of 12 million barrels per day by year-end 2009, and its refining capacity – both through joint venture and wholly-owned facilities – is growing rapidly." Further downstream, “we are evaluating petrochemicals projects, including specialty products and derivatives, through our joint-venture investments in China, Korea, the United States, the Philippines, Japan and Saudi Arabia,” Al-Tubayyeb said. “If all our petrochemical projects are implemented, we have the potential to be in the top ten companies in terms of polyolefin production.” --MORE
