The Middle East peacemaking Quartet will hold a high-level meeting in Potsdam, Germany next week to discuss the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, U.N. spokeswoman Michele Montas announced Wednesday. The meeting next Wednesday outside of Berlin will be attended by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Javier Solana, Montas told reporters. European Commission external affairs chief Benita Fererro-Walder and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, whose nation holds the current EU presidency, also will attend. The last Quartet meeting was held on the sidelines of the Sharm el-Sheikh Iraqi Compact conference earlier this month.
