PASSENGERS AT THE OUTLETS AND INLETS OF THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA WOULD BE REQUESTED TO DECLARE CURRENCY AND PRECIOUS METALS THEY ARE CARRYING, EFFECTIVE JUNE 2, 2007, THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE SAID IN A STATEMENT ISSUED HERE TODAY. THE STATEMENT SAID THE NEW MEASURE FALLS UNDER ARTICLE 14 OF THE MONEY LAUNDRY COMBATING SYSTEM ISSUED BY A ROYAL DECREE NO. M/39 DATED 25/6/1424 H. PASSENGERS DEPARTING OR ARRIVING, SHOULD DECLARE TO THE SAUDI CUSTOMS AUTHORITIES AT THE AIR, SEA OR LAND OUTLETS AND INLETS THE AMOUNTS OF CASH OR TRANSFERABLE FINANCIAL ITEMS AND PRECIOUS METALS AMOUNTING TO MORE THAN SR60,000 OR ITS EQUIVALENT IN OTHER CURRENCIES THEY ARE CARRYING, THE STATEMENT SAID. THE MINISTRY WARNED OF THE PENALTIES OF FAILURE TO ABIDE BY THE NEW REGULATION.
