Vattenfall Europe, the German arm of Swedish electricity generator Vattenfall, said Tuesday it has bought rights to build a wind farm in the North Sea for an undisclosed price, DPA reported. The 600-square-kilometre Dan Tysk area, off Denmark and 70 kilometres north-west of the German island of Sylt, could accommodate wind turbines able to generate at least 800 megawatts of electricity, it said in Berlin. The vendor was a project-development company, Energie und Oekologie. Vattenfall Europe, one of Germany's big four utilities, said a pilot project was planned on a 71-square-kilometre section of the concession area. No wind farms have been built yet off Germany's coasts.
