Pakistan has taken over the chairmanship of the group of Islamic States at the UN, pledging to work towards reform and revitalization of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), so that the 57-member body effectively promotes and protects Ummah's interests. Pakistan will make utmost efforts to strengthen the OIC, forge solidarity among its member states and concentrate on measures to collectively address the challenges confronting the Muslim World, Farukh Amil, Pakistan's acting permanent representative to the UN, said, according to a message received in Islamabad. The OIC group's change of guard from Azerbaijan to Pakistan took place at a special meeting called to discuss the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
