Japan's industrial production fell a seasonally adjusted 0.3 percent in March from the previous month, revised up from a 0.6 percent fall in a preliminary report, the industry ministry said today. According to Japanese news agency KYODO, the index of output at mines and factories came to 107.6 against a base of 100 for the year 2000, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said in a revised report. The fall followed 0.7 percent growth in February. For fiscal 2006 through March, the output index grew an unadjusted 4.8 percent to 107.0, revised upward from a 4.7 percent rise in the preliminary report released in late April. Production, according to the revised report, dropped in March at general machinery manufacturers, electrical machine makers and chemical makers, but rose at electronics parts makers, food makers, tobacco makers and steel makers. -- SPA
