One NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldier was killed and four wounded when they were ambushed by unknown assailants in Teri Mangal area of Pakistan after a border meeting, ISAF said Monday, according to DPA. The incident ocurred on Monday afternoon, following a meeting attended by Afghan, NATO and Pakistani military officials to discuss the worst border clashes yet between Afghan and Pakistani armies on Sunday, which Kabul says killed at least 13 people. There are conflicting reports from the Pakistani side as to the exact number of casualties. "The wounded were medically evacuated to an ISAF treatment facility. The meeting was held relative to the previous day's border incidents," ISAF said in a statement. Though ISAF did not disclose the nationality of the deceased soldier, the Afghan defence ministry said that two US soldiers were killed and several Afghan and Pakistani soldiers wounded when a Pakistani Army officer opened fire on them during a meeting. According to a statement released by the Afghan Ministry of Defence, several high ranking US, Pakistani and Afghan officials were attending the meeting in the Parachenar area of the Kurram tribal agency on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border when "one of the officers of the Pakistani army opened fire on the delegation and killed two US soldiers and wounded two others". The statement added that an Afghan soldier had also been injured in the firing, in response to which "the US guards then returned fire at Pakistani soldiers and killed several of them."
