HIGHLIGHTING THE OCCASION, ABDULRAHMAN BIN HAMAD AL-ATIYYAH, SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE GCC, SAID THE LEADERS WOULD BE BRIEFED ON THE PROGRESS OF JOINT COOPERATION MARCH IN ALL FIELDS AND HOW THINGS HAVE GONE SINCE THE CONVENING OF THE 27TH GCC SUMMIT IN RIYADH IN DECEMBER 2006 "JABER SUMMIT", THE NEGOTIATIONS WITH A NUMBER OF COUNTRIES AND ECONOMIC BLOCS AS WELL AS THE LATEST REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS, PARTICULARLY THE PALESTINIAN ISSUE, SITUATION IN IRAQ AND IRANIAN NUCLEAR FILE. IN A STATEMENT TO THE SAUDI PRESS AGENCY, AL-ATIYYAH UNDERSCORED THE IMPORTANCE OF THE MEETING AT THIS CRITICAL TIME TO REVIEW THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS AT THE REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ARENAS. HE CONFIRMED THAT THE MEETING REELECTS THE KEENNESS OF THE GCC LEADERS TO CONDUCT STEADY AND CLOSE FOLLOW-UP OF WHATEVER RELATES TO THE HOPES AND ASPIRATIONS OF THE CITIZENS OF THE GCC MEMBER COUNTRIES.
