Three communist rebels were killed when the guerrillas raided a police station in the eastern Philippines, the military said Sunday, according to DPA. About 50 communist rebels swooped on the police station in Paranas town in the eastern province of Samar on Saturday night. The town's police chief was wounded in the attack, according to Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Lacderas, an army battalion commander. Lacderas said the policemen on duty fought the guerrillas but were outnumbered. "One of the policeman at the main building was so overpowered that when he ran out of bullets, he dropped to the floor and pretended to be dead," he said. The rebels ransacked the station's armoury, carting away three M16 rifles and two handguns.
