A worker was trapped Friday in an 8-foot-deep (2.4-meter) trench that collapsed during construction work at a private school in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, officials said. The trench being dug outside the Leif Ericson Day School caved in Friday afternoon, burying the worker, said Fire Department spokeswoman Emily Rahimi, according to AP. Several department units had arrived Friday afternoon to begin digging out the trench. -- SPA
