Head of visiting World Bank team, Saadeh al-Shami, on Monday praised the performance of the Jordanian economy over the past couple of years and expected the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to grow by 6 per cent in 2007, according to DPA. Al-Shami made the remarks after a meeting with Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit, during which he presented him with the WB's appraisal of the Jordanian economy for the years 2006 and 2007. Jordan's inflation rate almost doubled to 6.5 per cent over the past two years mainly due to three successive hikes of fuel prices.
