Two men died in a car accident on the main highway between Prague and Brno after hitting stray cows, police said Sunday. The accident occurred Saturday night when several dozen cows escaped a nearby farm and six expectant cows cleared fencing along the busy motorway, CT24 news channel reported, according to dpa. Three cars and one truck ran into the animals leaving two men aged 28 and 34 dead and several others injured and four cows killed. According to the news channel, the gate of the shed from which the cattle had escaped had been left open. The accident is the latest in a string of road accidents involving stray cattle that occurred in just a week. On Friday, a car and a truck killed a cow on the main road between Plzen and Ceske Budejovice. One of the drivers, whose car slammed into a tree after hitting the animal, was taken to a hospital with injuries, the Pravo daily reported. Earlier in the week, three cars and one truck hit a stray bull on a road between the towns of Olomouc and Lipnik nad Becvou in the country's east. The bull died, but the driver and a passenger of the car involved in the accident sustained minor injuries, CTK news agency reported. -- SPA
